best one-size pocket diaper

bumGenius 4.0

The Bum Genius 4.0 is a one size pocket diaper. It comes with microfiber inserts and a microsuede lining. The manufacturer says it fits babies from 7 to 35 pounds, though in general it seems to be closer to 10 pounds before they fit really well. They are a little more expensive than some other diapers, but they are the best ones I have tried.

The benefit of choosing a pocket diaper is the ability to customize absorbancy. The Bum Genius has a wide pocket opening, which makes it easy to stuff with as much as your need for overnight or naps, but still fits well with just one insert for play time. It’s also easy to pre-stuff your diapers when you are sending your baby to daycare or leaving them with someone who might not be totally comfortable with cloth diapers. Changing a pocket diaper is really no different than changing a disposable diaper.

The Bum Genius has a 3 step adjustable rise to make them fit tiny babies and big toddlers all in the same diaper. The cut is a little more generous than some other diapers, which makes them bulkier than usual on a small baby, but that balances out for  toddlers because they really do fit all the way through to potty training. They also come with hook and loop closures, or snaps. The snaps are great for bigger kids because they’re much harder for little fingers to take off than the hook and loop or a disposable diaper.

Overall, the Bum Genius diapers are a big initial investment, but they will save you tons on diapers in the long run and they’re better for the landfills. They’re easy to wash and dry and easy to use. And an adorable brightly colored fluffy baby bum definitely makes them more fun!

Flip Cloth Diapering System

The Flip diapering system is a great option if you’re planning to cloth diaper. Flips are different from the Bum Genius because they do not have a pocket. There is a flap at the front of the diaper and you just put the insert under the flap. The benefit of this over a pocket diaper is that you can reuse the outer shell when the diaper is just wet. You can use different kinds of inserts or prefold diapers to get the kind of absorbency you need.

Flips have a 3 step adjustable rise, so they can be used from 7 to 35 pounds, although they seem really big and bulky on smaller babies. This is especially useful if you have 2 in diapers at the same time, or plan to use them all the way through to potty training. The inserts that come with the diaper are made of 3 layers of microfiber.

In general, the Flip system is really versatile and great for long term use. Like the Bum Genius, they are a little more expensive than some other brands out there, but the quality of the diapers is excellent and worth the extra money.

Good all-in-two cloth diaper

The GroVia diapering system is one of the more versatile options in cloth diapering. The shells can be used with the BioSoakers, which are disposable, the GroVia Soaker Pads, which are washable, or any other insert or diaper you normally use. The shells are a one-size system with adjustable rise snaps and hip snaps to hold everything in place. They’re actually a really great fit for tiny babies and toddlers. The inside of the shells is mesh, which helps to pull moisture away and keep baby drier. They come in lots of cute colors and patterns. The GroVia soaker pads snap into the shell, which keeps them in place and helps to stop leaks. Overall, this is a great system if you’re looking for a way to use soakers you already have or incorporate disposable soakers for travel. They are also one of the best fitting cloth diapers out there.
